How matching works
- What does South Bay Pest Pros do?
- South Bay Pest Pros is a free referral service. We connect South Bay homeowners with one licensed, independent pest control provider. We do not inspect homes, apply treatments, or set prices.
- How does the matching work?
- You tell us the pest and your ZIP code. We send that request to one licensed provider who serves your city, and that provider contacts you to look at the property and quote the work. We do not perform the pest control.
- Which cities in the South Bay do you serve?
- We match homeowners with licensed providers in El Segundo, Hawthorne, Gardena, Torrance, San Pedro, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Lawndale, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, and Rolling Hills. If you are just outside those cities, contact us and we will tell you whether we can match you.
- Is the matching service free?
- Yes. Homeowners are not charged to be matched. Providers pay to be in the network. Any price for an inspection or a treatment comes from the provider after they see the property, not from us.
- What happens after I submit a request?
- The licensed provider serving your city contacts you to schedule a visit, explain what they find, and quote the work. You do not have to hire them. After the match, the agreement is between you and that provider.
- Do you inspect or treat the home?
- No. South Bay Pest Pros does not inspect homes, apply treatments, or set prices. The licensed provider you are matched with does that work.
- What's included in a general pest service?
- A general service from a licensed provider usually covers common household pests such as ants, spiders, and cockroaches: interior treatment where it is needed, plus an exterior perimeter and entry points. Termites, rodents, and bed bugs are separate jobs. We do not perform the service.
- Do you send my request to more than one company?
- No. We share your request with the single licensed provider assigned to you so they can contact you. We do not send it to a list of companies, and we do not sell your information.

A one-time ant visit and a termite fumigation are not priced the same way. South Bay Pest Pros does not quote the job. The provider inspects and gives you a price before any work begins.
- How much does termite work cost?
- South Bay Pest Pros does not quote termite work. - Do I pay South Bay Pest Pros?
- You do not pay South Bay Pest Pros for the match. If you hire the provider, you pay that provider the price they quote after they look at the property.
- Should I book a one-time visit or a recurring plan?
- The provider should say which fits after seeing the property. A one-time visit is for a specific problem. Recurring visits are common where ants and other pests keep coming back from irrigated yards. Ask how often the visits are, how to cancel, and what a return visit covers, and get that in writing.
Licensing and hiring
- How do I verify a California pest control license?
- Look the company up on the Structural Pest Control Board license search and confirm the registration is current and the name matches the business on the quote. The step-by-step is in how to look up a California pest control license. In California, Business and Professions Code section 8550 makes it unlawful to engage in structural pest control as a business without a license from that Board. Start at https://www.pestboard.ca.gov/license, choose Structural Pest Control Board on the state search, and search by business name or license number. A cancelled registration does not appear in those results, so if you cannot find the company, ask for the exact name and number before you hire. Narrow exemptions exist, including some pesticide-free bee or vertebrate removal (rats and mice are not exempt). South Bay Pest Pros is not a licensed operator and does not inspect or treat.
- What is the difference between Branch 1, Branch 2, and Branch 3?
- They are the three California structural pest control license branches. Branch 1 is fumigation. Branch 2 is general household pests, such as ants and spiders, and does not include fumigation. Branch 3 is wood-destroying organisms, such as termites, and does not include fumigation. Ask the provider which branch covers your job, then confirm it on the license record.
- What should I ask a provider before I hire them?
- Ask what is included, what is not, whether the work is one visit or several, the total price, and what happens if the pest comes back. Ask to see the California structural pest control license and confirm the business name matches it. Get the scope and the price in writing before work starts. The agreement is with the provider, not with South Bay Pest Pros.
- Does South Bay Pest Pros guarantee the result?
- No. We do not perform the work, so we do not guarantee a result. Ask the provider whether their agreement includes a re-service or warranty, which pests it covers, and for how long, and get that in writing.
- Are the providers you match licensed?
- We match you with independent providers that hold a California structural pest control license for the work they do. The six standards are on how we vet providers. You should still look the company up yourself before any work begins. We are not the licensed operator.
Timing
- How fast can someone come out?
- Providers in our network often offer same-day or next-day appointments, and the provider confirms the time. During business hours you can usually hear back within a couple of hours of your request. We do not send a technician ourselves.
- What appointment times can I request?
- The form lets you ask for Morning (8am–12pm); Afternoon (12pm–4pm); Evening (4pm–7pm); As soon as possible. The provider confirms the actual appointment when they contact you. We do not book the visit.
- Are you open on weekends?
- You can reach South Bay Pest Pros seven days a week, 8am–8pm Pacific. Whether the provider can visit on a weekend is up to that provider.
- How long does a visit take?
- There is no single length. The provider tells you once they know the pest and the property. An ant trail and a termite inspection are not the same visit. We do not schedule or perform it.
Pests
- How do I tell termites from ants?
- Look at the body, not just the wings. A termite swarmer has a broad waist, straight antennae, and two pairs of wings the same length. A winged ant has a pinched waist, elbowed antennae, and wings of unequal length. Drywood termites leave small, ridged, six-sided pellets. Carpenter ants leave shredded wood that often includes insect parts, and they excavate wood rather than eating it. Mud tubes on a foundation point to subterranean termites, not ants. A licensed provider confirms which insect is in the wood. We do not inspect.
- Which termites are common in the South Bay?
- The two to know in a South Bay home are the western drywood termite and the western subterranean termite. Drywood termites live inside wood and push out pellets. Subterranean termites live in the soil and build mud tubes. A licensed provider has to tell them apart, because the work is different. We do not inspect.
- Why do I still get ants if my kitchen is clean?
- Because the usual indoor ant in the South Bay, the Argentine ant, comes in for water as much as for food. A clean counter does not remove the colony in the yard. A licensed provider treats the trails and nesting areas outside. We do not treat ants.
- Which pests show up in the South Bay by season?
- Coastal Los Angeles does not have a hard winter shutdown, so it depends on the pest. Argentine ants trail indoors year-round, and often more in hot, dry weather or just after rain. Western drywood termite swarmers are commonly seen in late summer and fall. Western subterranean termite swarms are more typical in spring. Black widows and brown widows stay in garages and clutter all year and are noticed more in warm weather. Roof rats move indoors more in fall. Honeybee swarms show up in the warmer months. A licensed provider confirms what you actually have.
- What is the difference between a black widow and a brown widow?
- A female western black widow is glossy black with a red hourglass on the underside of the abdomen. A brown widow is tan to mottled brown with an orange or yellow hourglass, and its egg sac is round and covered in spikes. Both use dark, undisturbed spots such as garages, woodpiles, and the undersides of outdoor furniture. A licensed provider can confirm which spider you found. We do not remove spiders.
- Is the spider in my South Bay home a brown recluse?
- No. Brown recluse spiders are not established in coastal Los Angeles. A dark spider in a South Bay garage or closet is much more likely a western black widow, a brown widow, a false black widow, or a common house spider. A licensed provider can identify it. We do not.
- When should I treat a pest problem as urgent?
- Call sooner for active termite mud tubes, termite swarmers indoors, or wood that sounds hollow. Also call sooner for a widow with egg sacs where children or pets can reach it, a honeybee colony inside a wall, or rodents in the living space. A short ant trail or a few cobwebs can usually wait for a regular appointment. We do not inspect. The provider you are matched with does.
- Can you match me for gophers, moles, ground squirrels, or bees?
- Yes. You can request a match for pocket gophers, moles, California ground squirrels, or bees and wasps. They are not the same job: a plugged crescent mound, a mole ridge, an open squirrel burrow, and a honeybee colony in a wall each need different work. We match you with help and do not do that work.
Renters and owners
- I rent. Can I request a match?
- Yes, you can send a request. Pest control on a rental still needs the owner's permission before anyone treats the property. Tell your landlord or property manager. California Civil Code section 1941.1 treats a rental as untenantable if the building and the areas the landlord controls are not kept free of rodents and vermin. That is a habitability standard, not a decision about every lease, and termite work on the structure is the owner's decision. We match you with a provider. We do not decide who is responsible.
- I am buying or selling a home. Who handles termites?
- A licensed provider inspects and, if hired, does the work. Who pays is between the buyer, the seller, and the purchase contract. South Bay Pest Pros does not perform termite inspections or issue reports.
Privacy
- What do you do with my contact information?
- We use your name, phone number, and address to match you with one licensed provider and to contact you about that request. We share those details with that provider so they can follow up. We do not sell your information. The Privacy Policy describes this in full.
- Do you sell my information?
- No. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with a list of companies for their own marketing. The single provider assigned to your request receives it so they can contact you about that request.
- What happens to my number after I am matched?
- We give your contact details to the one provider assigned to your request so they can reach you about that request. What that provider does with the information after the introduction is their own practice, not ours. Our Privacy Policy covers what we collect and who we share it with.
