How we vet pest control providers in the Los Angeles South Bay

Every partner must hold an active California Structural Pest Control Board license covering the right branch for the job, carry liability insurance and keep a 4.5+ Google Business Profile rating on at least 25 reviews. Ratings are re-checked every 3 months, and partners who receive complaints or poor feedback are removed. The provider performs, prices and guarantees the work.

South Bay Pest Pros is a free referral service for homeowners in the Los Angeles South Bay (not the San Francisco Bay Area). We don't inspect or treat. The provider you're matched with performs, prices, and guarantees the work.

Our six standards

  1. 1. Active California Structural Pest Control Board (SPCB) license.

California Business and Professions Code section 8550 makes it unlawful to engage in structural pest control without a license, and companies must be registered with the Structural Pest Control Board. The lookup steps are in the license guide. How to look up a California pest control license.

  2. 2. The license covers the right branch for the job.

SPCB licenses come in three branches. Branch 1 is fumigation, such as tenting. Branch 2 is general household pests. Branch 3 is wood-destroying organisms such as termites. A general pest license alone does not cover tenting. The branch table is in the license lookup guide.

  3. 3. Liability insurance.

Insurance matters if something goes wrong on your property. We do not publish coverage amounts or policy types.

  4. 4. A 4.5+ star Google Business Profile rating, on at least 25 reviews.

A provider's public rating reflects many customers. The 25-review floor means one or two glowing reviews cannot carry the score.

  5. 5. Ratings re-checked every 3 months, including the 25-review minimum.

Ratings change, so we look again every 3 months, including the 25-review minimum. This schedule is for ratings only.

  6. 6. Partners who receive complaints or poor feedback are removed from the network.

What 4.5 stars on 25 reviews does and doesn't tell you

A 4.5+ Google Business Profile rating across at least 25 reviews shows a consistent record with past customers. It does not show whether the license is active, whether the branch covers your job, or whether a price is fair. That is why the license comes first.

South Bay Pest Pros does not verify that each individual review is genuine. The Federal Trade Commission's Rule on Consumer Reviews and Testimonials, 16 CFR Part 465, effective October 21, 2024, bans buying or selling fake reviews. We cite the rule. We do not accuse any company.

How a request reaches a provider

  1. You tell us the pest and your ZIP, on the 60-second form or by phone.
  2. Your request goes to one licensed provider: the provider assigned to your area. We do not pick among several companies for your job, and we do not send the request to a list.
  3. The provider contacts you, inspects, explains options, and quotes. There is no obligation to hire them.
  4. After the match, the agreement is between you and the provider.

The steps are also on how South Bay Pest Pros works.

How we make money

The service is free for homeowners. Partner companies pay us a monthly fee to be listed in their service area. There are no per-lead charges. That fee is why this page does not call the match unbiased.

What we don't do

We don't inspect, treat, price, or guarantee work. We don't sell your information. We are not a licensed operator. We are not affiliated with any other company using a similar name.

Check us, and check the provider

Run the license lookup yourself. The California pest control license lookup walks through the official search. Before you sign, use questions to ask before signing.

If something goes wrong with the work, start with the provider. The Structural Pest Control Board takes complaints on pestboard.ca.gov. Tell us too, through the contact page. That is part of the complaints and poor-feedback rule. We do not promise an outcome or a timeline.

Vetting questions

How does South Bay Pest Pros vet providers?
Every partner must hold an active California Structural Pest Control Board license covering the right branch for the job, carry liability insurance and keep a 4.5+ Google Business Profile rating on at least 25 reviews. Ratings are re-checked every 3 months, and partners who receive complaints or poor feedback are removed. The provider performs, prices and guarantees the work.
Is South Bay Pest Pros legit?
South Bay Pest Pros is a free referral service operated by West LA SH LP in Los Angeles. It matches Los Angeles South Bay homeowners with one licensed, insured pest control provider rated 4.5+ on Google across at least 25 reviews. Providers pay a monthly listing fee; the service does not inspect or treat.
Does South Bay Pest Pros send my request to several companies?
No. The request goes to the single licensed provider assigned to your area, who contacts you to inspect and quote. It is not sent to a list of companies, and your information is not sold. You are under no obligation to hire the provider, and the agreement is between you and them.
Why require at least 25 Google reviews?
A high rating on a handful of reviews says little, because one or two customers can set it. Requiring a 4.5+ Google Business Profile rating across at least 25 reviews means the score reflects a broader record. It does not show license status, so South Bay Pest Pros also requires an active state license.
How does South Bay Pest Pros make money if it's free?
Partner pest control companies pay South Bay Pest Pros a monthly fee to be listed in their service area, so homeowners pay nothing for the match. Any price for inspection or treatment comes from the provider after they see the property. You pay the provider only if you choose to hire them.
Do you inspect or treat my home?
No. South Bay Pest Pros does not inspect, treat, price, or guarantee the work. The licensed provider assigned to your area does that.
What if I have a problem with a provider?
Contact the provider first. Tell us too, because complaints and poor feedback are part of how partners are removed from the network. The Structural Pest Control Board also takes complaints about licensees and registered companies. We do not promise an outcome or a timeline.
Which cities do you serve?
We match homeowners in El Segundo, Hawthorne, Gardena, Torrance, San Pedro, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Lawndale, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, and Rolling Hills. All of those cities are in the Los Angeles South Bay, Los Angeles County.
